The First Virus!
1988 - The first computer virus was in 1988. Robert Morris developed a worm and flooded the ARPANET which was a computer network developed
by the Advanced Research Project Agency , now the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency, in the 1960s and 1970s as a means of communication
between research laboratories and universities. ARPANET was the predecessor to the Internet. The 23 year old Morris was the son of a computer
security expert for the National Security Agency and sent a nondestructive worm through the Internet, causing problems for about 6,000 of the
60,000 hosts linked to the network.
